Official Transport Fever 3 system requirements for PC minimum and recommended, Mac and Linux, plus consoles and install notes. Checked October 10, 2026.

Transport Fever 3's official requirements are steeper than the series' reputation suggests, mostly because of one line: a 90 GB install on an SSD is mandatory, and both Intel and AMD CPUs must support AVX2. Everything below is transcribed from the official Steam store listing and the Steam release API, checked on October 10, 2026 — no benchmark-site estimates, no second-hand numbers. Console availability is listed separately because consoles do not publish comparable requirement blocks.

PC requirements (Steam, official)

Two of these lines do real work. AVX2 support excludes older pre-2013 CPUs outright regardless of clock speed — if your machine cannot boot a modern Windows install comfortably, it cannot launch the game. And the SSD requirement is official, not advisory: with 90 GB of assets, the game expects storage fast enough to stream them, which is also why the recommended tier assumes the same drive class rather than more space.

Mac requirements (official)

Mac support is Apple Silicon only. The store listing requires an Apple processor, macOS Sequoia 15.7 or higher, and names the Apple M2 Pro class (the 14-inch MacBook Pro 2023) as the minimum reference machine. Intel Macs are not supported — the game joined the industry-wide cutoff, so check your chip before buying rather than after a 90 GB download.

Linux requirements (official)

ItemMinimum (official)
OSUbuntu 24.04 or higher
CPUIntel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X (AVX2 required)
Memory8 GB RAM

The Linux build tracks the Windows minimum CPU and adds a distribution floor at Ubuntu 24.04; rolling-release users should treat the Ubuntu baseline as the library-target to satisfy.

Consoles and other platforms

The game launched September 29, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S alongside PC, Mac and Linux. Console builds receive updates on their own schedule — the October 8 stability patch (build 40420) shipped on Steam first, and the official console release notes are maintained separately, so a fix described for PC may lag on your platform. Cloud streaming: as of October 10, 2026, Transport Fever 3 does not appear on cloud gaming service catalogues, and players are formally requesting it in the official forums — there is no official statement yet either way (see evidence note).

FAQ

Can my PC run Transport Fever 3 with 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 1060?

The official minimum graphics tier is exactly the GTX 1060 4 GB, and the Linux block lists 8 GB RAM at minimum, so that configuration is inside the supported envelope for the base game. The realistic constraint is the CPU's AVX2 support and an SSD — a 1060 next to a pre-AVX2 CPU will not launch the game at all.

Is Transport Fever 3 on Game Pass or GeForce NOW?

Neither, as of October 10, 2026. The game is sold through Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S per the official channels, and cloud catalogue trackers plus community threads show no GeForce NOW availability yet, with requests pending and no official statement. Treat any site claiming cloud play today as outdated.

Should I buy the PC or console version?

Buy the platform where your save will live, because saves do not move. The PC version gets build 40420-style stability patches on the Steam-first schedule and supports the mod.io browser with the full catalogue; consoles receive updates separately, so check the console release notes before a session that depends on a fresh fix. Requirements-wise, consoles need no configuration — the tiers above are PC, Mac and Linux concerns.

For small networks, minimum-spec machines hold up. The recommended tier exists because Transport Fever 3's simulation cost grows with your network: every vehicle, industry and town you add is simulated, so the 13700K/RTX 3070 class is what keeps frame times stable once your company spans a large map. Plan for recommended if you know you build big.
